How to Work Out Using the Floor

Sometimes, trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle can be financially challenging. Gym memberships can be pretty expensive - not to mention the fact that joining a gym means you will probably have to buy new gym clothes. Buying exercise equipment for your home is not cheap either. But just because you have a tight budget, it is not an excuse to give up on trying to get fit. When everything else fails, you can always pare it down to the very basics and use your own floor as your all-in-one home gym.

There are several floor exercises you can try that are just as effective as exercises done with machines. Before performing your floor exercises, you should warm up with a brisk walk or jog, as well as a few stretches. This makes your body limber and more able to effectively perform the exercises. One example of a great floor exercise is the squat. Repetitive squatting can do a great job of lifting and toning the buttocks. It also strengthens the hamstrings and your knees. If you want to work out your abdomen area, research on the Web about the proper way to do abdominal crunches. If you do it religiously, you should see encouraging results in just a few weeks. If your goal is to tone up your arms and get a nicely defined collarbone, push-ups will do the trick.

Finally, if you are looking for a more exhilarating way to burn calories, turn up the volume on your stereo and dance! Shake and sway your hips until you work up a good sweat. Dancing can work out several parts of your body at the same time, plus, you have more stamina to exercise longer since you are having so much fun!
